The play was the Hindi adaptation of super hit Gujrati play, 'Ame Lai Gaya, Tame Rahi Gaya' which has achieved a milestone of completing 350 shows in 20 months and is still running to packed houses, this play was also produced under Sanjay Goradia's banner and has been the only Gujarati play to have completed 350 nights in the past 10 years. The Gujrati version in turn is the adaptation of the record breaking Marathi play 'Sahi Re Sahi' which performed 565 shows in one calendar year. This achievement earned this play a place in the Guinness book of World Records. This speaks aptly about the creditworthiness of the script and the concept.
The specialty of the play was that one actor (Javed Jaffrey in our case) played 4 different roles and the audience saw 4 Javed Jaffrey on the stage at the same time!...sounds like magic?...not really in essence the play had a simple plot yet it's a hilarious comedy with emphasis and focus of mistaken identity...and of course disguised identity. The audience kept guessing about WHO the real Amar Ajmera (Javed Jaffrey) was amongst the 4 claimants. The Audience enjoyed freshness of characters, twists and turns in the plot and all the ingredients that made a perfect weekend entertainer.
